چکیده

Identification of similar Turbidite features on well log and Seismic There have been many studies of how Direct Hydrocarbon Indicators (DHIs) can help or hurt us when trying to distinguish fluid and lithology effects on seismic amplitudes. The integration of outcrop studies can enhance the interpretation of complex reservoirs in deep-water depositional settings. In this paper we present observations from world-class deep-water outcrops as analogues to deep-water Gulf of Mexico (GOM) reservoirs. We present the methodology of the investigation starting with outcrop studies, well log and seismic interpretation of deep-water sediments, forward and inverse modeling, and analysis of the DHI response. Examples of outcrops and 1-D models are presented. 1-D Seismic Modeling of composite Reflectivity coefficient for turbidite reservoir intervals 2-D Seismic Modeling Amplitude versus Offset response of these intervals

Luminous Phenomena of Earthquakes: Observations and Theories

Over the past few years, different theories (piezoelectric, positive holes, friction-vaporization, exo-electron emission, tribo- or fracture electrification) have been presented for the interpretation of earthquake lights. Although these theories can interpret earthquake luminous, each suffer from particular problems. There are also ambiguities and questions about the location of the light, the...

Small-scale insights into seismic-scale slumps: a comparison of slump features from the Waitemata Basin, New Zealand, and the Møre Basin, off-shore Norway

The results of a comparison between two different submarine mass wasting events, using differing methods of investigation are presented in this study. Remotely sensed geophysical data types, such as 3D seismic, can be used to image and analyze large-scale examples. The strengths of such techniques lie in the ability to image large areas (i.e. 10’s of sq km), allowing consideration of the broad-...

SEMI-ACTIVE NEURO-CONTROL FOR MINIMIZING SEISMIC RESPONSE OF BENCHMARK STRUCTURES

This article presents numerical studies on semi-active seismic response control of structures equipped with Magneto-Rheological (MR) dampers. A multi-layer artificial neural network (ANN) was employed to mitigate the influence of time delay, This ANN was trained using data from the El-Centro earthquake. The inputs of ANN are the seismic responses of the structure in the current step, and the ou...

Quantitative morphologic analysis of boulder shape and surface texture to infer environmental history: A case study of rock breakdown at the Ephrata Fan, Channeled Scabland, Washington

[1] Boulder morphology reflects both lithology and climate and is dictated by the combined effects of erosion, transport, and weathering. At present, morphologic information at the boulder scale is underutilized as a recorder of environmental processes, partly because of the lack of a systematic quantitative parameter set for reporting and comparing data sets. We develop such a parameter set, i...

Use of the Shearlet Transform and Transfer Learning in Offline Handwritten Signature Verification and Recognition

Despite the growing growth of technology, handwritten signature has been selected as the first option between biometrics by users. In this paper, a new methodology for offline handwritten signature verification and recognition based on the Shearlet transform and transfer learning is proposed. Since, a large percentage of handwritten signatures are composed of curves and the performance of a sig...
